Revolution 1996
Umpqua announces new banking revolution and expands with four new stores in Lane County. New stores feature unique customer experience.
First Celebration of Excellence awards gala honors bank associates and the Umpqua culture.
Oregon Business Magazine names Umpqua Bank one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For”. Umpqua Bank has made the list twelve times since.

Next Generation store opens in Portland’s Pearl District. Store becomes a community center with regular events from movie night to yoga to investing basics.
World’s Greatest Bank University (WGBU) in Roseburg built. The associate training school promotes job satisfaction, career advancement and continued success through courses that develop and improve associates’ skills and knowledge.

Connect 2004
Launch of Connect Volunteer Network. Associates receive
40 annual hours of paid volunteer time to work with youth, education and community development organizations.

First Umpqua Bank ice cream truck hits the streets. The truck generates community enthusiasm by giving out free ice cream throughout the neighborhoods. Why not?

First expansion into California through acquisition of Humboldt Bank & Holding Company subsidiaries.

Local Hangout 2006
New neighborhood concept store opens in Portland. The store focuses on intimate, cozy banking for walk-in traffic Oregon CEOs name Umpqua Bank “Oregon’s Most Admired Financial Services Company”—and for the two following years.

Launch of Discover Local Music Project; “Discover Local Music: Vol 1, Sacramento to Seattle” compact disc releases. Features local, independent musicians in an on-demand and online store, and offers new and distinctive experiences to customers and public.

Umpqua acquires Western Sierra Bancorp, making Umpqua the largest community bank in the Sacramento area.

At The Waterfront 2007
Umpqua opens the Innovation Lab in Portland’s Southwest waterfront. One-of-a-kind store blends state-of-the-art technology into the customer experience, experimenting with new ideas and initiatives.
