We were chartered in 1957, Chetco Federal Credit Union (CFCU) started as a small organization out of the trunk of a car. Since that time, CFCU has flourished into over $215 million in loans, over $210 million in deposits, with over 25,000 members served by nine branch offices, which includes two High School branches run by the students, for the students.

Chetco Federal Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution owned by its members. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works or worships in Del Norte, Curry and Coos Counties, and their family members. Chetco Federal Credit Union is a financial cooperative providing financial services to our members. The Board of Directors is elected from this community by the general membership. These board members serve wholly in a volunteer capacity.

A credit union exists to serve a specific group of people, such as a group of employees or the members of a professional or religious group. This is called a "field of membership." The field of membership may include where they live, where they work, or their membership in a social or economic group. All savings accounts are insured to at least $250,000 by the NCUA, the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government. IRA deposits are insured separately.
